Amador Valley Quilters Announce 2024 Programs, Workshops

The Amador Valley Quilters (AVQ) will feature eight individual speakers and a member speaker panel during their monthly general meetings for 2024 and host six full-day workshops. Featured speakers and workshops include:

  • Anelie Belden presenting Dresden Plates quilts and teaching “Jelly Roll Split Blade Dresden Plate" workshop.

  • Joanna Figueroa discussing the origins of Fig Tree Quilts and sharing  a trunk show of her quilt designs and teaching “Making A Pieced Quilt and Using Applique as an Accent” workshop;

  • Rhondi Reeves, an AVQ member presenting samples of her prolific quilt designs and teaching a workshop featuring the Thimble Creek House Quilt.

  • Kathryn Pellman featuring “Word Salad Fashionistas & Girlfriends” quilt designs that use words and images found on fabrics that can be used to create a poem or story.

  • Sandra Mollon presenting a trunk show that showcases techniques for creating rocks, water, and trees in landscape quilts and teaching the “Intro to Fused Art Quilts” workshop.

  • Jenny Lyons focuses on tips for successful and joyful free motion quilting and teaching the “Fearless Free Motion Fills and Frills” workshop.

  • Sandy Klop presenting origins of the American Jane Quilt along with her fabric and pattern designs. She will teach the “Winning Combination” workshop.

  • Cliff Stoll presenting a lecture about using decorative tile designs as an inspiration for making an appliqued quilt.

A panel of AVQ members presented information on the formation and focus of Friendship Groups within the guild at their February 2024 meeting. General meetings and workshops are open to members and guests.   

AVQ members are preparing for a Quilt Show, “Quilted Treasures XVII: Together Again,” on June 22-23, 2024, at Trinity Church in Livermore. A variety of traditional, art, modern, and challenge quilts will be featured. For information, please visit: www.amadorvalleyquilters.org.

Amador Valley Quilters (AVQ) is a non-profit charitable organization whose mission is to preserve and continue the traditions, culture, and history of quilting; to sponsor and support quilting activities including charitable works; to promote fellowship among interested persons in all aspects of quilting; to contribute to the knowledge of, and to promote the appreciation of fine quilts; to encourage quilt making and collecting; and to contribute to the growth of knowledge of quilting techniques, textiles, patterns, and quiltmakers through educational meetings and travel.  AVQ has over 240 members from the Bay Area and beyond.
