Bay Area Women Against Rape Grant Project

The Inner Wheel Club of San Leandro was again awarded a generous grant to provide 105 Rape Kare Kits to BAWAR (Bay Area Women Against Rape). Sweatshirts & sweatpants, underwear, shirts, socks, many toiletries, and journals/pens were placed in backpacks to provide comfort to survivors of abuse. Drawstring backpacks filled with shirts, leggings, toiletries & journals were also delivered to UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital. These were distributed by members- JoAnn Cornelius, Barbara Mehan, Lynnette Flusche-President, Sherrie Barnes, and Kristi Barnes. Other committee members are Linda Mahadevan-Project Chair, JoAnne Frazier and Grant Writer Gloria Vasconcellos. The project represents another "Feel Good" moment for IW Club of San Leandro and a chance to make a positive difference in the community, organizers said.
