Baywood Court Completes $7.625M in Improvements

Baywood Court, a nonprofit senior community in Castro Valley, California, serving over 240 residents, announced the completion of a $7.625M capital investment program, which began in 2021.

“For 33 years, Baywood Court has been a pillar of retirement living in Castro Valley,” said Matt Neal, CEO of Baywood Court. “We have been investing in updating and modernizing Baywood, so it is fresh and inviting for our current and future residents. Our team of more than 150 staff is committed to seniors so they may live in health, happiness, and dignity. Our goal is to ensure any senior who calls Castro Valley, Hayward, or neighboring communities’ home may find a modern, comfortable, and accommodating living space during their senior years and live as vibrant of a life as possible.”

The capital campaign included upgrades to residences, such as new kitchens, flooring, bathrooms, and lighting, as well as to the amenities, public spaces, and landscaping. A newly designed lobby and reception area, pool courtyard, gazebo courtyard with outdoor kitchen, and bocci ball court are just a few of the areas that received modernization. A new walking pathway has been installed around the grounds for residents to keep up a regular fitness program. The remodeled rehabilitation therapy center reopened with all new equipment, a real-life kitchen, and a simulated bathroom so community residents and patients in the skilled nursing health center may improve their skills to live as independently as possible.

Last year, Baywood added six newly built two-bedroom, two-bathroom independent living cottages to the adjoining neighborhood. Residents may dine at the community’s main dining room with other Baywood residents, enjoy all the amenities, and partake in the many group activities.

In addition to capital investments, Baywood Court launched a program that recognizes wellness as a holistic endeavor.Wellness Elevated was created to support all pillars of wellness, including physical, intellectual, spiritual, social/emotional, and environmental. The gym received brand-new equipment, and activities were added to engage residents on multiple levels. Re-branding included an updated logo, tagline, website, and signage to reflect the updated community’s physical features. The new slogan, Vibrant Senior Living, reflects the modernized community Baywood Court offers its residents and guests.

Baywood Court takes pride in being a part of the community of Castro Valley and the surrounding area. Each year, their residents' and employees' children and grandchildren attend holiday events, enjoy barbecues, and participate in local celebrations. Moreover, Baywood Court has actively engaged with local organizations supporting charitable causes and has collaborated with community initiatives such as volunteering at the homeless shelter and helping the Interfaith Homelessness Network’s April Showers support program by donating food and clothing, contributing to the well-being of Castro Valley and surrounding communities.

Over the years, Baywood has consistently upheld its promise of care and compassion, ensuring the residents feel supported and valued.
