Canyon Defeats Creekside in Battle of the Valley

Creekside scored first on a deep pass from Brayden Lima (#25) to Ezra Mahteme (#44), then got the two point conversion to go up 8-0. Canyon answered right back with a long pass of their own from Ethen Hauschild (#3) to Aiden Tavares (#44), but they were unable to convert the two pointer, so the score at halftime was Creekside 8, Canyon 6. Late in the second half, Israel Lawson (#21) ran in the winning touchdown for Canyon, then made a great catch in the back of the endzone for the 2-point conversion to finish 14-8. Creekside’s late effort to come back came up short with passes to Jacob Price (#30) and Mahteme (#44) missing just out of their reach as time ran out. The energetic crowd cheered on both teams, and the very well rehearsed cheer squads performed at halftime, despite the rains that came down in the first half.
