Jonathan Murray Receives Outstanding Cadet Medal
On Saturday, February 10, Jonathan Lamon Murray, a senior at Redwood Christian High School, received the Silver DAR Outstanding Cadet Medal from the Ann Loucks Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution. The award program was held at the Grace Episcopal Church in Martinez, and Regent Kathy Nielsen made the presentation. Jonathan has been a member of the Young Marine program since the sixth grade, and currently holds the rank of Young Marine Gunnery Sergeant. Jonathan’s plans after graduation is to attend college with a dual career of becoming a Private Professional Trainer as well as owning his own business.
A student at Redwood Christian Schools since kindergarten, Jonathan has always been active in school activities, including high school, playing varsity soccer, basketball and track; playing the drums in the Concert Band; and serving others wherever and whenever needed.
Superintendent Emeritus Bruce D. Johnson remembers him fondly as a student who, since elementary school “has always been a positive influence on those around him, respected by his classmates and teachers, as illustrated by the Redwood Christian High School Student Body selecting him as their Homecoming King this year. He has always accepted all recognition, big or small, with appreciation and humility. He is an outstanding, godly young man.” Jonathan is the son of Valarie Espinoza of San Lorenzo, and attends Faith Fellowship Foursquare Church in San Leandro.
