Kiwanis Club Gets Early Start On Making Holiday Donations

On the heels of its recent fifth annual Virtual Fall Gala, the Hayward-Castro Valley Kiwanis Club is already spreading holiday donations to community members who might be short on joy this season. The Club has sent $600 to the Alameda County Food Bank, which will provide almost 1,500 meals to local families through food pantries, senior centers, and after-school programs. More than $700 was donated to Nobody's Perfekt Dogs and Cats which will secure veterinary care and foster support for injured, sick, and abused animals. $800 was given to the Hayward Corps of the Salvation Army to assist in providing Christmas toys and new clothing for children who would otherwise go without.

The Kiwanis Club has supplied volunteer Bell Ringers to the Salvation Army for over forty years, and this year Kiwanians will be ringing at the kettles in front of Safeway in Hayward on December 7 and Safeway in Castro Valley on December 14. Members of the Kiwanis youth leadership program, the Key Club, at Castro Valley High School will be on hand for some spirited caroling. Kiwanians have already gathered $400 to get the kettles primed for Holiday Cheer.
