Rape Crisis Center Gets Donation

The Inner Wheel Club (IWC) of San Leandro recently donated 130 care packages to Bay Area Women Against Rape (BAWAR). Founded in 1971 BAWAR was the first rape care crisis center in the country. The kits were filled with toiletries, journals, pens, masks, sanitizers, sweats and socks. Children's Hospital/Center for Child Protection was also the recipient of blankets, journals, body wash, and gift cards. This yearly project was spearheaded by IWC Chairperson Barbara Mehan, along with Kristi Barnes, Sherrie Barnes, Linda Mahadevan, Joanne Frazier, Amy Neuman, Monika Williams, and grant writer Gloria Vasconcellos.
