RCES Provides Food for Ruby’s Place
At their Chapel on October 28, the students at Redwood Christian Schools' Elementary Campus brought food forward that they brought from home for Ruby’s Place, who provide prevention and supportive services to the community and people impacted by domestic violence or human trafficking. This is the fourth chapel where the RCS Community was blessed to be able to provide food for the residents of Ruby’s Place.
The chapel speaker was RCS Superintendent Emeritus Bruce D. Johnson (aka Patch the Pirate), assisted by Miss Jessie Pangelina’s fifth class, spoke on the topic “leaping to be a better you!” based on Philippians 4:13. .Mr. Johnson shared that we all need to become LEAP-ers to become everything that God has for us. We need to Listen (carefully), Encourage (positive only), Acknowledge (immediately) and Praise (publically) those around us! Positive examples in our lives need to be LEAP-ed, too, including parents, teachers, police, first responders and military! Of course, the students and parents were taught body movements to help them remember the verse and how to be a LEAP-er!
Parents were sent Chapel information sharing the opportunity to bless Ruby’s Place with food so the entire family could be part of the chapel by sharing with others. The students (and their parents!) responded by bringing more than thirty big Redwood Christian shopping bags of food, which was delivered to the office of Ruby’s Place on Baker Road in Castro Valley.
Principal Megan Sinisi was not surprised by the outpouring of support for others stating “Our students and their parents never fail to respond to a need, whether at the school or the community. Whether it is blanket brigades, bake sales, thank you notes to food drives, our students have generous hearts, encouraged by their generous parents. I was confident that our school’s community of families would respond enthusiastically when asked to share their blessings with the families of Ruby Place. I am never surprised and always blessed and so proud of our students and their families.”
