RCS Students Celebrated on Superintendent’s Birthday
January 29 was a great night of celebrating the individual achievements of students of Redwood Christian Schools while also celebrating Superintendent Al Hearne’s 47th birthday!
“Explore RCS” was a memorable night in the fifty-four year history of Redwood Christian Schools as students from all grade levels were recognized: Elementary Spelling Bee resulted in Justus Westbrook (5th) winning the competition and Bethany Qio (3rd) finishing second, and Josie Alonso (5th) finishing in third place.
Middle School Bible Essay winners were Elijah Nilooban (8th) winning the competition and Andrew Goodson (8th) finishing second, and Melody Chalk (8th) finishing in third place. High School Bible Essay winners were Rachel Hendren (10th), Micaiah Leyva (11th) finishing second, and David Barquero (12th) finishing in third place.
Middle School Science Fair was a team event and winners were First Place in the 8th grade category were Ryan Han, Dylan Skjong and Elijah Nilooban; Daniel Kim, Onyekachi Ajawara, and Neylan DeSilva, and Jonathan Elliott finished in second place; and finishing in third place were Abigail Kendricks, Alexander Zarich, Yuliana Vargas, and Michael Vega. Science Fair winners in the 7th grade was the team of Elea Ambriz, Carmen Escobedo, Matthew Cecchi and Kaelyn DeMiguel; second place was won by Kinsley Liu, Jayton Kwan, Levi Triplett, Michael Calvin, Braden Rice, and Nickolas Sherman; and third place was won by Makairim Stewart, Naomi Stephens, Nori Dania, Kylie Reaves and Mileah Ponce.
Superintendent Hearne was caught by surprise as all present as High School Principal Justin Redemer led “Happy Birthday” and all celebrated his birthday. Dr. Hearne, who beamed when all present celebrated his birthday, remarked “Our focus for the evening was celebrating the accomplishments of our students and their individual and collective achievements. We are all so proud of each one of our students and their efforts in and out of the classroom. I am blessed to serve Jesus at Redwood Christian Schools.”
