The Weather and You
Just when you think everything is returning to normal, Mother Nature throws a monkey wrench to complicate what has already been a remarkable Spring. With summer a little over a month away and just in time for Mothers Day, the 2nd warm-up of Spring season rolls in this weekend. Most of the interior Valleys of the Bay Area and Northern and Central California should be mostly in the low to mid 90’s on Saturday and cool into the 85 to 90 degree range on Sunday. The 880 corridor should be low to mid 80’s while downtown Oakland, Hayward and San Leandro should be near 80. Over the hill along the 680 corridor places Like Concord and Danville will see highs mostly in the low 90’s. Cooler air and high clouds move in on Sunday but it will still be a very pleasant day to be outdoors. Even SF should hit 70 with highs around 60 at the beaches. Temperatures start to cool back to normal next week as clouds move in from the Pacific. Some models are showing the possibility of some monsoonal moisture moving into the interior of Northern and Central California middle of next week with with showers and Thunderstorms likely in the Mother Lode and Sierra. How close this moiture gets to the bay Area is uncertain at this time. However the Sierra looks to get the bulk of the moisture which could add water to the huge snowpack and produce higher run—off into the the creeks, streams and rivers that drain the Sierra. This will cause the States water managers to release more water out of the major reservoirs. Looming on the horizon is a strong El Nino which could further complicate our normal summer weather pattern and have a major influence this winter.
