Train to be an EKG/ECG Technician

Elisa Dasalla will be teaching a new EKG/ECG certificate course at Castro Valley Adult & Career Education this October.

Does the idea of working in the medical field appeal to you but you aren’t sure if you want to commit to a long program?  In addition to its well-respected Medical Academy program Castro Valley Adult & Career Education (CVACE) is offering a new 60-hour hands-on Electrocardiograph Technician (EKG/ECG) training program.

This course will cover an overview of the cardiovascular system, taking vital signs, performing EKG tests, assessing heart rhythm and rate, preparing diagnostic reports, learning about Holter monitors and stress tests as well as maintaining equipment and keeping it in compliance.  It would be a great course for someone seeking an entry level position as an EKG/ECG Technician or someone in the medical field seeking another certification to make them more marketable.  This course prepares you for the National Certified EKG Technician (CET) examination.

According to Kerry Principato, Career Technical Education Coordinator at CVACE, an entry level wage for an EKG technician is between $26-29/hr. The cost of the course is $899. It starts October 24th and runs Mondays and Wednesdays from 9-2:30 pm.

When choosing a vocational training program, going to a public school offers value and the security of being part of an accredited school district.  This program is taught by Elisa Dasalla, also known as Miz D, the 2021 Castro Valley Unified School District Teacher of the Year.  Students give her rave reviews for her compassion and dedication to teaching.

CVACE also offers Clinical Medical Assisting with new classes starting every 12 weeks. Registration for the mandatory orientation is now open. The next class starts on November 1.

We’re at a time in history when the world needs caring people in health care. If this sounds like a good fit, sign up today at www.cvadult.org or call (510) 886-1000. If costs are a barrier, call to discuss referrals to programs that offer funds for job training.
