Woman May Have Premeditated Shooting Ex-Boyfriend

Thursday, August 22: Sheriff's Deputies arrested 36-year-old Analleli Garcia Mejia in connection with the August 20, 2024, homicide of her ex-boyfriend, 43-year-old David Ramirez. During the investigation, detectives say they developed information and video evidence showing Garcia Mejia's actions may have been pre-meditated. Garcia Mejia was taken into custody and booked into Santa Rita Jail this past Thursday. The incident began two days earlier following a report of a shooting at a residence on the 16000 block of Carolyn Street in unincorporated Castro Valley. Deputies found Garcia Mejia with a gunshot wound to her leg. Paramedics took her to the hospital for treatment. Ramirez was found unresponsive in another room with a gunshot wound to his upper torso. Deputies failed to revive him, and he was pronounced dead at the scene. The initial investigation considered this an isolated incident stemming from a domestic dispute. The investigation is ongoing. The case has been passed on to the Alameda County District Attorney's Office.
