Traffic Stop Ends in Two Arrests
Sunday, December 19: at 12:33 p.m., Sheriff’s deputies arrested two people from Castro Valley during a traffic stop on Jamison Road near Santa Maria Avenue. The driver, a 37-year-old man, was charged with driving with an expired license, possession of stolen property, and burglar tools. The passenger, a 49-year-old woman, was charged with possession of stolen property and illegal drug paraphernalia. The pair were taken to Santa Rita Jail.
Breaking and Entering a Vehicle
Saturday, December 18: at 11:38 p.m., a 24-year-old woman with no permanent residence was arrested on suspicion of breaking and entering a vehicle parked in front of a grocery store on Redwood Road near Castro Valley Boulevard. Deputies responded to a report of a suspicious person in the parking lot. The woman was taken into custody.
Assault and Drugs
Monday, December 20: at 1:15 a.m., deputies arrested a 50-year-old woman from Castro Valley on suspicion of assault on a family member and possession of illegal narcotics. The woman was reportedly in an altercation outside a storage facility on Castro Valley Boulevard near Marshall Street. Deputies handcuffed the woman and took her into custody. The victim was treated at the scene.
Warrants Served to Wanted Couple
Saturday, December 18: at 12:45 a.m., two people with outstanding warrants were arrested in front of a church on Redwood Road near Charlene Way. Deputies report serving warrants on a 49-year-old man who had been previously charged with driving with an invalid license as well as possession of methamphetamine drugs and related drug paraphernalia. A 45-year-old woman also arrested was previously charged with breaking and entering and possession of burglar tools. Deputies took the couple to Santa Rita Jail.
Public Intoxication
Friday, December 17: at 10:32 p.m., deputies arrested a 31-year-old man from Castro Valley on suspicion of public intoxication. The man was hanging outside an apartment on Forest Avenue near Omega Avenue when deputies arrived and smelled alcohol on his breath. The man failed his field sobriety test and was taken to a sobering center.
Two Conspire in Retail Embezzlement
Thursday, December 16: at 6:18 p.m., two women from Castro Valley were arrested on suspicion of conspiring to embezzle their employer. Deputies responded to a report from the business owner at a retailer in the Castro Village shopping center. The women, aged 22 and 20, were handcuffed and taken into custody.
Attempted Murder
Thursday, December 16: at 10:04 p.m., deputies arrested a 30-year-old man from Castro Valley on suspicion of attempted murder with malice of another person. The man was reportedly in an altercation outside a church on Grove Way near Redwood Road. Deputies took the man to Santa Rita Jail. The victim was treated at the scene.
Petty Theft
Thursday, December 16: at 9:05 a.m., a 30-year-old man with no permanent residence was arrested on suspicion of petty theft as well as possession of illegal narcotics and related drug paraphernalia. Deputies stopped the man in the parking lot of the Castro Valley BART station on Norbridge Avenue following reports of a theft in the area. The man was taken into custody.
Intoxicated Sex Offender Caught
Thursday, December 16: at 7:06 a.m., deputies arrested a 32-year-old man with no permanent residence on suspicion of public intoxication and failing to register with authorities as a sex offender. The man was discovered behind a business near the intersection of Castro Valley Boulevard and Redwood Road. Deputies report the man failed his field sobriety test. The man was taken to Santa Rita Jail.
Charged with Elder Abuse
Wednesday, December 15: at 1:35 p.m., a 25-year-old man from Castro Valley was arrested on suspicion of elder abuse. Deputies responded to an anonymous tip about a senior citizen in physical danger at a home on Mabel Avenue near Salem Road. The man was handcuffed and taken into custody. The victim was treated at the scene.
