Sheriff's Report: March 14 - 21
Charged with Rape of a Family Member
Saturday, March 19: at 10:11 a.m., Sheriff’s deputies arrested a 34-year-old man from Castro Valley on suspicion of sexual assault on a family member, physical assault, attempted mayhem, and breaking and entering. An anonymous call about an altercation sent deputies to an apartment on Denning Court near Stanton Avenue sent deputies to the scene. The man was taken into custody. The victim was treated at the scene.
Assault with a Deadly Weapon
Saturday, March 19: at 12:45 a.m., a 30-year-old man was arrested on assault and gun charges following a traffic stop on Grove Way near East Castro Valley Boulevard. Deputies stopped the man following reports of an assault with a deadly weapon. The driver fit the description. Deputies additionally charged the man with illegal possession of a loaded firearm, driving with a loaded firearm, and illegal concealment of a firearm. The man was taken to Santa Rita Jail.
Wanted Woman Arrested
Friday, March 18: at 2:00 p.m., deputies arrested a 50-year-old woman as part of a warrant issued for her capture. The woman was stopped at the intersection of Stanton Avenue and Sommerset Avenue when deputies pulled her over. The woman had been previously charged with petty theft and trespassing and was in violation of her parole. Deputies took the woman to Santa Rita Jail.
Busted for Drugs
Thursday, March 17: at 10:03 a.m., a 28-year-old man with no permanent residence was arrested on suspicion of possession of illegal narcotics and related drug paraphernalia. Deputies stopped the man for questioning outside a business on Castro Valley Boulevard near Wisteria Street when they discovered his stash. The man was taken into custody.
Joy Ride Ends in Arrest
Wednesday, March 16: at 7:55 p.m., deputies pulled over and arrested a 33-year-old man with no permanent residence was arrested on suspicion of driving a stolen vehicle. The man was traveling on Grove Way near Center Street when deputies ran the plates and discovered the car had been reported stolen. Deputies took the man into custody.
Street Fight Ends in Two Arrests
Tuesday, March 15: at 11:13 p.m., two men from Castro Valley were arrested following an altercation outside a business on Castro Valley Boulevard near Park Way. Deputies arrested a 43-year-old man on charges of assault with a deadly weapon. The other, a 29-year-old man was arrested as part of a warrant issued for his capture. The younger man was previously charged with receiving stolen property and petty theft. Deputies took the men to Santa Rita Jail.
Damaged Private Property
Tuesday, March 15: at 11:00 p.m., deputies arrested a 28-year-old man with no permanent residence on suspicion of defacing and damaging private property in excess of $400. The man was spotted outside a storage unit company trying to damage a security gate. Deputies took the man into custody.
Shoplifter Caught
Monday, March 14: at 6:45 p.m., deputies arrested a 36-year-old man from Castro Valley on suspicion of petty theft and possession of illegal drug paraphernalia. The man was reported leaving a store in the Castro Village shopping center with unpaid merchandise. Deputies responded to a call from store security and apprehended the man in the parking lot.
