Enable Congress to Restore Sanity, Ethics to Supreme Court

The U.S. Supreme Court has done tremendous damage to the Nation in the years since their appointment. Senator Sheldon Whitehouse in his book “The Scheme” points out that billionaire generated dark money groups have seen to it that justices were appointed who would disable workplace power, voter power and women’s power, all the while abrogating more power to potentially rogue Presidents. Presidents who respect the rule of law have all the power they need to execute the laws of the land. It is only rogue presidents who need the power of singular immunity to protect them from the consequences of their illegal acts.

This Court has ruled against controls on domestic violence and gun violence while voting for reduced sentences for the violent insurrectionists after the last Presidential election. They validate the violence to our environment that those who exploit resources cause. This run amok Court needs to be reigned in.

Members of Congress are developing legislation to enforce ethical standards and create term limits. They are exploring increasing the number of justices to a number more like earlier decades, such as eleven. This could be done by dividing the more populous Circuits and creating corresponding new seats on the Court.

None of these solutions will happen without a Democratic President and a Democratic majority in the Senate and House to see to it that the legislation passes and is enacted into law. Voters can take back their power and enable Congress to restore sanity and ethics to the Supreme Court through their vote in November.
