How Long Before We See the Return of Polio?

News of an unvaccinated child’s death from measles in Texas did not seem to faze RFK jr. during Trump’s reality show cabinet meeting on Wednesday. Up to the year 2000, the CDC had declared measles eradicated in the U.S. I wonder how long before we see the return of polio, diphtheria, typhus, and smallpox?

For a sense of one way things like this can happen, I would recommend a movie from 1962 called “Pressure Point” starring Sidney Poitier. To see how a total Trumpian world would look, I would recommend a novel that was 75 years ahead of its time: “1984” by George Orwell.

It doesn’t have to be this way, and we still have the ability to change things.... for now.
