I Applaud HUSD for Closing Strobridge Elementary

Editor,

I applaud the Hayward Unified School District for finally closing schools, especially Strobridge Elementary, that have been costly to tax payers for years.

It is parents, and students no doubt pushed by the adults in the household, who are being selfish and very narrow minded. Sure, it’s tough when a school closes. Just as it was a difficult decision the school district had to make. But facts are facts. 900 million dollars just to keep the walls up and heater running is a ridiculous amount of money the School District and tax payers should have to pay. And future cost? Who could possible estimate.

Sometimes tough decisons must be made. But the School District came to the solid, and fact based, conclusion that the only way to stay in business is consolidation and cost cutting. I am grateful the district  finally came to this conclusion after years of financial hardship.
