Lake Chabot Trail Closure

We in Castro Valley are blessed with the existence of Lake Chabot.
It is a wonderful site for picnic, BBQing, fishing, hiking, group gathering, walking or just relaxing in the sunshine. Unfortunately, the severe winter storms we endured last winter caused the park to close entirely for a while. However, thanks to the diligent work of EBRPD rangers and maintenance staff, the picnic areas and the Eastside trail were soon reopened. Unfortunately, the Westside or shady side of the lake remains closed.
Until now, the Eastside has been adequate to accommodate the many walkers who rely on our trails for their exercise and wellbeing, but as the weather warms up, The Eastside trail will become unbearably hot, especially for the many elderly who rely on our park for their wellbeing.
Can you please request the powers-that-be to spend the time, effort and funds needed to reopen the West side trail at our treasured resource so that it can be fully enjoyed by all.
