Please Fix Light Parade Traffic

I’d like to congratulate whoever decided to screw up traffic in Castro Valley all afternoon Saturday for a parade many hours later. The traffic control was poor. It was impossible to access some establishments like Togo’s legally without driving into a closed roadway. It was so crazy I went home and came back on my bike to see why things were so crazy. Somerset was impassible in both directions from the loss of the boulevard at 1pm. The Togo’s staff thought the shutdown shouldn’t have happened until 3pm. They lost hundreds if not thousands in revenue. That was just one business. As a retired Caltrans Senior Traffic Engineer who spent more than 30 years doing this kind of work, I’m here to tell you the city of Castro Valley was ill served by whoever thought this up. Let’s hope they correct it next year. Thanks for your attention.
