It would have been beneficial to your readers if Jack Leal had asked Alameda County officials for the level of the latest surge and a comparison of it to previous surges since 2020, as surges are not uncommon and nowadays are drastically less than a few years ago. So nothing to get scared about. Dr. Locke is also amiss, neglecting to tell people that staying up to date on your vaccinations can actually put you at more risk for Covid 19 rather than protect you. I urge her to read about negative efficacy and how it applies to Covid vaccines. People should be very careful in deciding whether to get further vax shots, and do their own research using a variety of sources outside of the CDC and ACPH. Decisions should be made under informed consent, with both pros and cons fully explored and explained, and neither the CDC nor ACPH has shown an interest in actually doing that.
