Send Letters to County About Mandated Housing

I sincerely hope that all of Castro Valley residents start sending letters to Alameda County about all the housing that the State of California is mandating. I listened to the meeting last night and it was a lot to absorb but most of all the housing that is suggested should be a great concern for all. We will be impacted with increased traffic, over crowded schools, and parking. It's sad the state is mandating these improvements that need to be accomplished in our community. Some of the data was 2020-2021 that I believe needs an upgrade. It almost sounded like open shut case. It is leaving Castro Valley will increased traffic, transportation issues, over crowded schools, and an over populated area. I was quite impressed with the MAC Board that was very supportive of our community. The meeting included 200 in attendence not including the online comments. We have so much more issues in Castro Valley to be addressed without having this shoved down our throats.. They are proposing a 5 story building housing in the Bart parking lot.....you don't have to think twice about that issue, we have been there done that. Our community will be gravely impacted we need to band together we have a fight on our hands. We may have a impact of 1675 units throughout our community how is Castro Valley going to support that? It is a bad idea. It needs to be scaled down, we need to amend the proposals before the state makes up its mind, takes over, and gets us in a choke hold. We have a sad mess here one that we all have to try and solve. You need to show up at the next meeting, flood the Alameda County with letters, Zoom is also an option. Anyone of us that live in Castro Valley realize the traffic we incur when we try to bring our children to school and pick total chaos. Add another 1000 in the high school and maybe 600 in the elementary schools. We don’t even have buses now for our children and grandchildren. Another question where will property values rate? There were some many concerns that were not answered. Castro Valley’s community's questions were not all answered and I understand the State of California is pushing for a mandate and so at times your hands are tied but I don't feel our community should have to adhere to or be committed to their plan I feel as a community we should be able to improve this gross miscalculation. It is all fine and dandy with all the drawings and calculations but it does not address all our community needs. It just seems like this is going to happen in some form but I think we all need to ban together and be involved or we will be doomed. Lets try and see a compromise, but I think the 5 story building is a NO-NO! The state does not have to guarantee parking for those 442 units, where are they going to park? Hopefully there can be some compromises but I have a bad gut feeling on this. Please try and send letters to Alameda County make your voice heard.
