Vote for McGowan, Akagi and Sadoff
I worked alongside McGowan, Akagi and Sadoff for nine years as a past board member of CV San, and I enthusiastically endorse their reelection to the board. Their experience, technical knowledge and commitment to the health and safety of this community cannot be credibly challenged. Each of these professionals brings decades of applicable skill and talent to the CV San Board. Tim McGowan is a Senior Civil Engineer at East Bay MUD, Danny Akagi is a Supervising Civil Engineer with the City of Berkeley, and Dave Sadoff is professional Geologist with over 30 years as an environmental consultant.
There have been several misleading letters and posts claiming the current CVSan Board has allowed uncontrolled spending and sewer fee increases in comparison with the Oro Loma Sanitary District. I want to offer a more complete picture of the facts. Alameda County has 14 sewer service providers. Among these agencies, CVSan’s current fee ($515/year) is the fourth lowest – with Oro Loma’s fee the lowest for now. Oro Loma is planning to increase fees 15% each of the next 5-years. CVSan’s fee increases are 7% in the first 2-years, 5% in the 3rd-year, and 4% for the remaining 2-years.
While we are all concerned with fees charged for these critical services, McGowan, Akagi and Sadoff work diligently to set reasonable fees that balance our current and future needs. Managing the complicated engineering and regulatory challenges presented by our growing community should be in the hands of people who have proven their ability to ensure CVSan’s long-term financial health and protect the residents of Castro Valley. They are the best individuals to continue to serve on the CVSan board. Please join me in voting for McGowan, Akagi and Sadoff.
