Chase Bank Demonstration

Several Castro Valley residents demonstrated outside the Chase bank at 3449 Castro Valley Blvd. on Friday, November 3, joined by four-legged companions. From left, they were Ethel-May Shaw, Claudia McDonagh, Sheila McClellan, and Mary Lasack. They were urging Chase, along with other major banks, to live up to agreements they had already made not to lend to “carbon-bomb” projects that worsen climate change. Members of a social justice group from Starr King Unitarian Universalist Church in Hayward, they demonstrate outside Castro Valley’s major banks every Friday at 3 p.m. The Chase bank manager declined to comment on the protest.
