Jenn’s Cupcakes Celebrates 10 Sweet Years

Jenn’s Cupcakes and Parties is celebrating its 10-year anniversary as a woman-owned bakery based in Castro Valley that specializes in creating custom-designed cakes, cupcakes, and sweet treats.

In February 2014, Jenn's Cupcakes and Parties became a licensed Cottage Food Operation in Alameda County. Without any formal culinary education, owner Jenn DeJanes felt her passion for baking was worth sharing, and that's how the business started. Ten years later, Jenn's Cupcakes has blossomed into a thriving bakery with a team of passionate creators who work hard to bring clients' visions to life.

“With thousands of cupcakes and custom cakes under our apron, Jenn's Cupcakes has become an integral part of birthdays, weddings, corporate events, and celebrations of all kinds,” DeJanes said.

One of the standout aspects of Jenn's Cupcakes is its commitment to community involvement. The bakery offers fundraising opportunities for local schools and non-profit organizations, giving back 20 percent of its sales. Over the past decade, the bakery has contributed a total of $30,000 back to the community.

Over the past 10 years, DeJanes says the company has grown by staying committed to excellence and broadening its culinary skills. The journey took the team to bakery conventions where they immersed themselves in the latest trends and honed their techniques. They had the privilege of learning from industry legends such as Buddy Valastro from “Cake Boss” and Duff Goldman from “Charm City Cakes.”

“We also had the honor of baking for the Oakland A’s, which was a highlight, demonstrating the confidence a major sports team has in our craft,” DeJanes said. 

Winning an award at the Castro Valley Light Parade four times is a proud achievement, she adds as well as being able to showcase the team’s skills at the Alameda County Fair each year. 

DeJanes says she and the team are grateful for the community's support and thank their clients for helping her turn her hobby into a thriving business.
