Crossover Basketball completed its 35th season, serving the local community with recreational-level competition while teaching Biblical character, including good sportsmanship.  The season concluded on Saturday, January 20, with a season-end celebration with a free pizza dinner for the crowd of more than 300 people, players, families, and friends at Redwood Christian School's gymnasium in San Lorenzo.  About 180 players—boys and girls, Grades 2 through 8—and about 30 volunteer coaches and support team members dedicated their time and effort to the three-month 8-game season, which started in November.

Weekly practices included basketball drills and a challenge to memorize Bible verses.  Forty players successfully memorized all their verses from Psalm 139 and were awarded prizes. Retired Oakland Police Officer and Golden State Warriors Team Security Manager Tony Banks shared his life story and how his walk with God influenced his law enforcement work and the Warriors Basketball organization. Attendees also participated in a free-throw competition and the annual Coaches vs. Players game.

Crossover Sports is a multi-sports program in partnership with Redwood Christian Schools, Castro Valley First Baptist Church, 3Crosses Church, and Redwood Chapel Community Church.  Crossover Sports Basketball is also an official Golden State Junior Warriors Program affiliate.

The organization is planning many camps this year.  For more information on how to participate, please e-mail info@crossoversports.org or visit crossoversports.org.
