Plethos Productions Presents ‘Chinglish’

Plethos Productions proudly presents Chinglish by David Henry Hwang, which will be streaming on demand November 5-14 and will have a red carpet premiere at The Chabot Theatre on Saturday, November 6.

This Tony Award-winning romantic comedy centers around Daniel (played by Will Livingston), an American businessman trying to land the deal of a lifetime in China.

The biggest lesson he learns right away - always bring your own translator. Linguistic and romantic hilarity ensues as Daniel finds himself romantically entangled with Xi Yian (played by Lan Zhong), the beautiful woman on the other side of the negotiation table.

This laugh-out-loud comedy shows what can happen when cultures collide in a hilarious way. It's also a touching look at the value of collaboration and appreciation for cultural and linguistic differences.

You won't want to miss the excellent performances by Tony Cardoza, who plays Peter, Daniel's unhinged consultant, Xun Zhang who plays the powerful Minister Cai along with Byron Guo, Bingcong Zhu and Skyler Riordan who play an assortment of terrible translators who add much mayhem to this lost-in-translation comedy of errors.

This show was professionally filmed live onstage at the Douglas Morrisson Theatre in Hayward. Streaming tickets are $15-$20 per device at plethos.org.
