Assault with a Deadly Weapon
Thursday, January 18: at 10:16 p.m., Sheriff's deputies arrested a 58-year-old man from Castro Valley on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon. The man was reported in an altercation in front of a business in the Castro Village Shopping Center wielding a weapon. Deputies handcuffed the man and took him into custody. The victim was treated at the scene.
Two Felons Arrested for Guns and Drugs
Wednesday, January 17: at 4:00 a.m., two former convicts were arrested on illegal gun and drug possession charges following a traffic stop at Castro Valley Boulevard and Stanton Avenue. Deputies stopped the vehicle for a traffic violation but found the driver, a 40-year-old man, and passenger, a 37-year-old woman, with methamphetamine drugs and marijuana illegally packaged for sale in the vehicle. A search also found both suspects had illegal possession of concealed and loaded firearms. The couple was taken to Santa Rita Jail.
Violated His Probation
Monday, January 15: at 9:40 a.m., deputies arrested a 37-year-old man with no permanent residence on suspicion of violating the terms of his probation and possessing illegal drug paraphernalia. The man was traveling on Castro Valley Boulevard near San Miguel Avenue when deputies stopped him for questioning and discovered his stash. Deputies took the man into custody.
Possession of Stolen Property
Sunday, January 14: at 3:56 p.m., a 35-year-old man with no permanent residence was arrested on suspicion of possessing stolen property and violating the terms of his parole. Deputies stopped the man for questioning outside a business on Redwood Road near Jamison Way and discovered he had stolen property in his backpack. The man was taken into custody.
Busted for Methamphetamine Drugs
Sunday, January 14: at 10:00 a.m., deputies arrested a 74-year-old man from Castro Valley outside a home on Hobert Street near Strobridge Avenue on suspicion of possessing methamphetamine drugs and related drug paraphernalia. The man was in the yard when deputies responded to a call about a disturbance at the home. Deputies took the man into custody.
Contempt of Restraining Order
Saturday, January 13: at 12:36 a.m., a 33-year-old man with no permanent residence was arrested on suspicion of violating a court-issued restraining order and possessing illegal narcotics and related drug paraphernalia. Deputies caught up with the man outside a Castro Village Shopping Center business. The man was handcuffed and taken into custody.
Joy Ride Ends in Two Arrests
Friday, January 12: at 10:29 a.m., deputies pulled over and arrested two people riding around in a stolen vehicle at the intersection of Grove Way and the Interstate 580 offramp. The driver, a 39-year-old man, was charged with driving a stolen vehicle and possession of methamphetamine, fentanyl, and related drug paraphernalia. The passenger, a 51-year-old man, was charged on suspicion of embezzlement. Deputies took the pair to Santa Rita Jail.
