Income Inequality and Labor’s Response

We are in a period of increasing income inequality and the labor movement is working to address it. Join us as Bill Sokol helps us understand this important topic on Sunday, March 24 from 2 to 3:30pm.

He’ll explain:

  • what income inequality is

  • how and why it persists

  • what unions have done to address it

  • how the demands of recent strikers may help even the playing field

Bill Sokol is a practicing labor lawyer with Weinberg, Roger and Rosenfeld, the largest union-side law firm in the nation. He litigates in State Courts, Federal Courts, and practices extensively in arbitrations, as well as participating in collective bargaining from time to time.

He was a talk show host at KPFA/KPFB/KFCF FM, Pacifica Radio, for over 20 years, and does regular commentaries on the law for KQED FM.

He teaches at San Francisco State University in the Labor and Employment Studies Department and has been a guest lecturer at other colleges and universities in the Bay Area.
