Regular Government Meetings
• Castro Valley Municipal Advisory Council (MAC) generally meets on land-use issues at 6 p.m. on the 2nd and 4th Mondays of the month, and holds general purpose meetings at 6 p.m. on most 3rd Mondays. Meetings are currently virtual at 6 p.m. For agenda, visit: acgov.org/bc/cvmac

Castro Valley Orchestra Free Concert
Castro Valley Orchestra will open 2025 with a free concert on Sunday, February 9th at 2:00 PM at Castro Valley Center for the Arts, 19501 Redwood Rd., Castro Valley. The program will include works by Bizet, Humperdinck, and Mozart. Ross Gershenson, retired Fremont music teacher and member of the Oakland Symphony, will perform the Horn Concerto by Lee Actor. A reception to meet the soloist and members of the orchestra will immediately follow the concert.

FREE Movie Night
The Hayward Area Recreation and Parks District is having a FREE movie night at the Castro Valley Community Park on August 23 (Movie begins at sundown around 8-8:15PM)! Get ready for a family movie night under the stars! No registration required! Gather everyone together, pack up your snacks, grab your cozy lawn chairs and blankets, and don’t forget those flashlights (but keep them low-key!). We'll be screening the awesome movie “Under the Boardwalk" (PG) for an evening of adventure and excitement. It's a recipe for laughter, snacks, and memories that'll light up the night! Free Concert: CV Orchestra
Castro Valley Orchestra will be performing a free concert on March 3rd at 2pm. This concert will take place in Grant-Miller Mortuary’s historic chapel at 2850 Telegraph Ave., in Oakland. There is parking in the back of the building. The orchestra will perform works by Faure, Warlock, Jacob, and Ewazen.
Free Webinar for Superior Court Judge Office 12 Candidates
The Alameda County Bar Association and the League of Women Voters of Alameda County are co-sponsoring a free webinar for the Superior Court Judge Office 12 Candidates on February 15, 2024 at 6 PM. The candidates for the Superior Court Judge Office 12 are Mark Fickes and Michael Johnson. Advance registration is required. Free Community Band Winter Concert
Free Community Band Winter Concert presented by Castro Valley Adult and Career Education, Wednesday, December 20, 7:30 p.m., at the Castro Valley Center for the Arts, 19501 Redwood Rd., Castro Valley. Musical Conductor Kathy Maier. More information: cvcfa.com.
CV Orchestra Free Winter Concert
Castro Valley Orchestra will present its Winter concert on December 10th, at 2 PM, at Castro Valley Center for the Arts, 19501 Redwood Road, Castro Valley. The concert will feature works by Mendelssohn, Bruch, and Leroy Anderson. Violinist, Aaron Tsi, will be featured, continuing a tradition of introducing talented youth from the area to our audience. A reception will immediately follow the concert. Admission is free.

Jenny Lin Foundation’s Free Concert
With a mission to promote youth music education and child safety, Castro Valley-based Jenny Lin Foundation presents a free music program for the 29th year this summer to benefit over 200 middle and high school musicians across the Bay Area.
This year the 5-week rehearsals will culminate in a large scale community event on Saturday, July 15, at Chabot College, Hayward. All are invited to attend the concert "Rainbows After Rain". Come support our hardworking young people who perform in Band, Orchestra & Choir as well as their talented music directors.
Band Director Travis Nasatir has been playing music on trumpet, his primary instrument, for 30 years, and participated in more than 50 musical theatre productions and dozens of ensembles across all genres of music. He is cofounder and Music Director of Mission Peak Wind Symphony.
Greg Conway has been a school music teacher for 18 years and recently completed his Master's Degree in Instrumental Conducting at SJSU. He has directed the Band of Jenny Lin Summer Program since 2007, and now conducts the String Orchestra.
Choral Director Michael Strelo-Smith is an accomplished performer having finished season three of America's Got Talent as one of the top 25 finalists. He maintains a private voice studio and strives to help students find their true authentic self through music-making with their voice.

Free CV Orchestra Concert
Castro Valley Orchestra will present a concert at Redwood Chapel Community Church, 19300 Redwood Rd, Castro Valley, on Sunday, March 26th, at 3:30 PM. The orchestra will perform compositions by Mozart, Borodin, Lalo and Saint-Saens. Students from the performing arts program at Holy Names College will appear with the orchestra. Admission is free and a reception will be held immediately after the concert.
