Digitize and Document Your Family History

A Genealogy Workshop at the Library

Sunday, May 19, 2024

2 pm to 4 pm


Are you overwhelmed with binders and bins full of genealogy notes and family photographs? Join us to learn how to create an organized digital family history on Sunday, May 19 at 2 pm at the Library.

In this workshop you’ll learn how to: create your own digital family history; create an oral history using artificial intelligence; scan and restore photos with free or cost effective resources; and create family history videos.

The presenter, Ron Chan, is the founder and executive director of the Bay Area Chinese Genealogy Group and has extensive experience creating his own digital family history and advising others.

This workshop is free and reservations are required. Reserve your spot at www.aclibrary.org

The Castro Valley Library, a branch of the Alameda County Library system. The Library will provide an ASL interpreter for any event with at least seven working days’ notice. Please call 510-667-7900 or TTY 888-663-0660.

Discover Your Roots

Join the Castro Valley Library Genealogy Study Group. Meetings are the 1st & 3rd Wednesday of each month from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The first Meeting will be October 4. If you are looking for help with your family history research or just the companionship of others with the genealogy bug, please join us! The group meets from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm the 1st & 3rd Wednesdays of each month. There is no fee, no registration, and it is open to anyone. Each meeting will feature a short presentation by our experienced docent or a guest speaker with plenty of time for research and questions - and it’s FREE!
