The LAB: Featuring Eileen Torrez
Oakland based singer-songwriter Eileen Torrez
The LAB returns with featured artist Eileen Torrez—an Oakland-based singer-songwriter whose sound dances between folk-rock, indie pop, and soul. Known for her clever, heartfelt lyrics and dynamic musical range, Eileen explores themes of joy, survival, and meaning with both reverence and playfulness. Hosted by Smalltown Society, The LAB is a monthly gathering for songwriters, poets, and artists to share, collaborate, and connect in an intimate, creative space. Each evening begins with a featured performance and conversation, followed by an open mic for artists to share new or in-progress work. This invite-only event starts at 7:30PM. Secret Screen Takeover - Prince’s 'Under the Cherry Moon'
Experience Prince’s cult classic romantic drama, ‘Under the Cherry Moon’, at Smalltown Society's Secret Screen Takeover in partnership with the Chabot Cinema. Set in the picturesque French Riviera, follow the journey of Christopher Tracy and Tricky through love and intrigue. Arrive early for a free poster (first 25 attendees), and enjoy a unique pre-show featuring rare clips and local Smalltown Society artists. Pre-show starts at 7pm and the film starts at 7:30pm. $5 admission. This event is exclusive to Secret Screen or Smalltown Society members. Become a Secret Screen member for $1 or be the first to sign up for a Smalltown Society's Membership for $10/month.
Benefit Show for Gaza Relief
Come enjoy local artists and community in support of relief work in Gaza at 7pm on Saturday, May 18th at the Smalltown Society Clinic Space (2490 Grove Way. Castro Valley). Proceeds will be going to Partners Relief and Development, an NGO that brings aid to children in conflict zones, and their efforts in Gaza. Suggested donation: $15. Artists will include Michael Kim Eubanks (The Underlay) and Fego Navarro (Lyrical Opposition). There will be drinks for sale and a small presentation about the work of Partners Relief and Development. Also beer from Faction and wine from Ramey.
Duke James Performs at Heirloom East Bay
Duke James Performs at Heirloom East Bay Smalltown Society presents the return of Duke James with a live performance at Heirloom East Bay. The time traveling crooner will be previewing new songs from his forthcoming album “How Many Hearts.” Under the stars and around the fire, experience a special evening of music with the singer-songwriter.
