Hayward Fall Celebration

Hayward Promise Neighborhoods at Cal State East Bay (HPN) and Hayward Public Library (HPL) invite you to join in celebrating our communities coming together to support children and families at a special free event officially launching the Downtown Hayward Promise Neighborhood initiative and recognizing over 12 years of partnerships and community leadership.

The public is invited to come and celebrate at the Promise Fest which is joining HPL’s popular annual Trunk or Treat at Hayward’s downtown Heritage Plaza on Saturday, October 28th, 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM. “This is an opportunity for us to celebrate the achievements of our children and families,” says Library Director Jayanti Addleman. “We see how hard children work all year, and parents work just as hard in trying to support them. This is the perfect time for families to come together and enjoy themselves.”

Along with the usual arts and crafts, cultural performances and free food, the program this year will expand to include free resource tables, a career fair, STEAM activities for children and more. Bay Area Blues musician extraordinaire, Aki Kumar will make a special appearance from 12:30 – 2 PM to entertain attendees with his singing, virtuoso harmonica playing and his upbeat blend of Blues and Bollywood that are sure to get people dancing. The Library expects attendance to more than double this year to nearly 10,000 community members joining in the festivities.
