Regular Government Meetings

CVSan Recycles Day & Compost Give-Away

Participate in Castro Valley Sanitary District (CVSan)’s Recycles Day and Compost Give-Away event on Saturday, April 26th! The event will take place between 8:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. at Canyon Middle School, located at 19600 Cull Canyon Road.

CVSan residents and businesses are invited to pick up three 1-cubic foot bags of compost, and drop off the following:

  • Fabric shopping bags for reuse at food banks

  • Mixed-material plastic (clean and empty chip bags, granola bar wrappers, etc.)

  • Textiles

  • Sensitive documents for shredding

  • E-Waste

Appointments will be required to participate. Appointment registration is open from March 24th at 3:00 p.m. until April 23rd. Appointments are limited.

CVSan Recycles Day

Participate in Castro Valley Sanitary District (CVSan)’s Recycles Day and Compost Give-Away event on Saturday, July 27th! Alameda County residents and CVSan businesses are invited to drop off textiles and Household Hazardous Waste (paint, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, e-waste). CVSan residents and businesses can also receive three 1-cubic foot bags of compost!

The event will take place between 8:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. at Canyon Middle School. Appointments will be required to participate. Registration is open from July 1st at 3:00 p.m. until July 24th. Appointments are limited and will be given to eligible customers in the order of registration.

Zero Waste Living Event

Zero Waste Living Event

Reducing waste has many benefits for our community and the environment. Join a speaker from the Castro Valley Sanitary District to learn tips and tricks for zero waste living. You’ll learn about the four R’s (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, and Rot) and how to put them into action. This event is part of the Castro Valley Reads Climate Change Education Series. The event will be held on Tuesday, March 1 from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm. Register at www.aclibrary.org. Call 510-667-7900 with questions. Registrants will received at least 24 hours notice if the program has to be moved online due to virus restrictions. The Castro Valley Library, a branch of the Alameda County Library system.
