Regular Government Meetings

Creative Writing Workshop
Castro Valley Library is offering a Fall creative writing workshop!
This workshop is open to adult beginning creative writers for the purpose of offering inspiration and motivation. The subject matter may be fiction or non-fiction including essays, opinion pieces, journal and travel writing. This year’s workshop:
• Will focus on creative writing for beginners.
• Meets Tuesdays, August 20; September 3 & 17; October 1, 15 & 29; and November 12 & 26 from 1:30 pm to 3 pm.
• Participants must commit to attend all sessions and bring a page of their writing with copies to share with the group at each of the meetings including the first meeting on August 20th
Registration is requested for this free program and may be made in person at the Library Information Desk, or call 510-667-7900. The Castro Valley Library is located at 3600 Norbridge Avenue and is wheelchair accessible. An ASL interpreter will be provided with 7 days notice.

Art, Music & Writing Reception
The public is invited to a free reception Thursday, January 11, 4-6pm in
the Castro Valley Center for the Arts, 19501 Redwood Road, Castro Valley.
The event features a collaboration of Gerald Thompson, Winifred Thompson, and Carol Jones Brown's art.
Susan Sarti will play jazz piano.
Poet Bruce Roberts will perform, and there'll be book signing by Pam Holloway of Alphabet Book for Children and Fast Forward to Phonics - Learn to Read English by Winifred Thompson.

Free Writing, Art Demo by CV Artist Mary Cooper
Hayward Arts Council presents a free writing & art demo by Castro Valley artist Mary Cooper on Saturday, August 19 at 2:30pm at the Hayward Public Library Galleries on the second floor. This art demo is in conjunction with the "Arts & Letters" exhibition artists' reception. “Arts & Letters” exhibition showcases artworks with at least one word of text including interactive pieces by thirty-five HAC members on view until October 14. Art materials during the demo are supplied by Sakura of America. Public is welcome. Please visit haywardartscouncil.org for more free exhibitions and programs.
