Know Your Rights, Read Your Easement
Sonic Internet and fiber optics has tried three times to install an anchor on our property. The third time they were very aggressive and actually started to dig without our permission; we had to call the sheriff to stop them and have them leave. Neighbors, know your rights and read your easement. Sonic has not given us proper documentation that they have the right to our easement nor did the workers ever given us their full name. The workers were very shady about giving their full name and only gave it to the sheriff as they had to. In my humble opinion, if you’re not willing to give your full name, then you’re not doing something that is legal. I digress, by allowing them to install an anchor, you may be giving them an implied easement to your land/property. My concern is when you don’t have anything written down on paper; who is liable for any injuries that the wires or anchor may cause and who will maintain the anchor? Also, Sonic is a private company, shouldn’t they do the right thing and pay up or at least provide the proper documentation that they have the right to your easement? Concerned neighbor.
