Our Democracy is in Peril
Editor,
Friday morning, I listened to the White House meeting between Ukraine President Zelensky and President Trump and Vice President Vance. I am beyond disappointed and disgusted on how President Zelensky was treated. Number 47 spoke as if Ukraine invaded Russia instead of the fact that Putin invaded Ukraine to take their natural resources and expand the Russian territory.
It has been less than 2 months since the new administration was sworn in and the damage that they have done to the relationship with our European and North American alliances may be irreparable.
Our former reputation as defenders and protectors of democracy is gone as Trump and his cabal of handpicked loyal cabinet members openly disparage our NATO allies and voted against a NATO resolution last week demanding that Russia withdraw from Ukraine.
Our democracy is in peril, and your voice matters now more than ever. Contact your elected officials daily at the Capitol Switchboard at (202)224-3121 to tell them not to pass the March 14 budget to fund the government until Republicans and Democrats make an bi-partisan effort to halt this takeover of our democracy by the self-serving administration in Putin’s pocket.
