Show Me the Man and I’ll Find You the Crime
Those who rejoice at Trump’s conviction in the hush money case because “no one is above the law” seem oblivious to the corollary: that the law should not be contorted in order to convict a specific person. Falsifying business records, a misdemeanor, suddenly becomes a felony because it was done "with the intent to commit another crime": in this case concealing an extra marital affair which somehow corrupted a presidential election. So voters were “victims” because they didn't know Trump was playing pattycake with Stormy Davis? Does anyone believe if it was any other Donald (Don King, Don Knotts ?) that DA Bragg, a state prosecutor, would have charged them with violating Federal election laws. and side stepped the 2 year statute of limitation on misdemeanors by upgrading invoices, checks and ledger entries into felonies?
To the great detriment to equal justice under the law DA Bragg has embraced Beria’s theory of prosecution: Show me the man and I'll find you the crime.
