Support Nate Miley for Supervisor
Editor,
One of the most important parts of any job is to actually show up. Over the last year, Jennifer Esteen, candidate for County Supervisor hasn’t shown up for her job at the Eden MAC. I looked at the minutes for the last year and she has missed 3 of the last 10 Monthly MAC meetings, including the most recent one last month. In addition, it doesn’t appear that she has served on any of the ad/hoc or standing committees during her time on the MAC. The Municipal Advisory Council could be a great opportunity for someone to learn about planning, land use, the pivotal role Alameda County staff and services play in our area, etc…but to take advantage of this opportunity, you need to actually attend the meetings.
Experience matters. This is not the kind of job where you can learn on the fly how to manage staff, coordinate between other agencies, and reach compromises with divergent stakeholders. You need to have SOME experience with this, but more importantly, you need to go to the meetings to learn how to do these things and be willing to do the work. Jennifer Esteen has not demonstrated a willingness to do this and this is concerning. Perhaps this is why Jennifer Esteen’s own labor unions (The SEIU 1021, California Nurses Association, and the National Union of Healthcare Workers) all decided to support Supervisor Miley’s Re-election instead of her.
Please join myself, Congressman Eric Swalwell, Assemblymember Liz Ortega, Alameda County Sheriff Yesenia Sanchez, and All 4 of the Alameda County Supervisors (Keith Carson, David Haubert, Elisa Marquez, and Lena Tam) and support Nate Miley for Supervisor.
