Surprised then Blessed

Editor,

I was in bed on November 21 at about 11:15 pm and tried to turn up the volume in the dark on my iPhone.  I thought I knew what I was doing, but . . . I did not know (or forgot) that if I held down the side button on my iphone and then clicked the volume that 911 would appear and that by trying to turn it off, I actually activated it despite my efforts to stop it (Surprise!) !

Almost immediately, I received a call from the 911 operator who checked in on me . . . I told her what happened and she told me it happens often . . . and to expect the Alameda County Sheriff’s Department to check in on me!

I tried to talk her out of  it but she said it was protocol.  Sure enough within 10-15 minutes, our doorbell rang and two Sheriff Deputies (Deputy Salazar and Deputy Harmon) were on our porch checking in on me!  We were Blessed to be reminded that we are being served around the clock by Alameda County Sheriff Ahern’s men and women and our other First Responders!

Surprised and Blessed . . . I then went to sleep peacefully.  This was another great reminder to keep all First Responders in our thoughts and prayers.
