Courtney Rose
Our Athlete of the Week is Courtney Rose, a former Castro Valley High School star who is now pitching at D-1 University of San Diego. Rose, a redshirt sophomore, earned All-WCC honors, the league announced on May 17, 2022. Rose, who was selected to the WCC Second Team, and ranked fourth in the WCC with 133 strikeouts. She led the conference with four saves. In 39 appearances and 19 starts, she tossed nine complete games in 159.0 total innings. Rose earned two shutouts on the season, including wins over Nebraska and Santa Clara. During her career as a Trojan, Courtney led Castro Valley softball to back-to-back Western Alameda County Conference titles. (2017, 2018). In 2019 Rose was named the Western Alameda County Conference Player of the Year, was selected to the All-Bay Area News Group First Team, and received the SF Chronicle All-Metro Team honorable mention.
