Our Athletes of the Week are the members of the Castro Valley High School boys JV water polo team.
On Saturday, August 28, the team won the 2021 James Logan JV Boys Colt Classic tournament. They boys faced Heritage High in the first game and dominated, winning 14 to 1. In the second game, they faced Terra Linda High in a challenging game. They took the lead early in the game, but Terra Linda was never far behind them. CVHS ultimately won the game 10 to 9.
In the championship game, they faced rival Alameda High. Alameda scored first and it was a back and forth battle until the end when the Castro Valley High Boys rallied and came together to win the game 11 to 9. Coach Ben Brookens did an amazing job coaching the boys, with every player playing and contributing in the championship game.
