Signing Day Seniors
Our Athletes of the Week are four Seniors from Castro Valley High School who participated in last week’s National Signing Day. Friends, family, and coaches were on hand to celebrate their commitments to the colleges and universities that have recruited them into their respective sports programs. Those participating included Avery Bland (volleyball), who committed to Ohlone College after leading the Varsity Girls team to a successful season with an 11-1 win-loss league record and a 20-10 overall record. Cassidy Cu (acro-sports) will attend the University of Oregon as part of their acrobatics and tumbling program as a flyer. She’ll be studying Business with a concentration in Marketing. Katrina (Katie) Longoria (softball) had a .400 batting average and was recruited by West Virginia Wesleyan College to their softball program. She will be studying science and biology on her way to becoming a veterinarian. Lukas Winn (volleyball) will be attending the University of Irvine. He says he has a goal to join the Olympic Men’s Volleyball Team one day.
