Traffic Stop Ends in Arrest

Tuesday, January 18: at 3:05 p.m., Sheriff’s deputies pulled over and arrested a 20-year-old man from Castro Valley on suspicion of driving with an invalid license and possession of stolen property. The man was traveling on Castro Valley Boulevard near San Miguel Avenue when deputies stopped him for a moving violation. The man could not produce a valid driver’s license. Deputies also found the stolen property in his vehicle. The man was taken into custody.

 

Shoplifter Charged with Petty Theft

Tuesday, January 18: at 10:42 p.m., a 38-year-old man from Castro Valley was arrested on suspicion of shoplifting and petty theft. Deputies were called to a retail store in the Castro Village shopping center after store security caught the man leaving with unpaid merchandise that in total was valued at less than $900. The man was taken into custody.

 

Fighting in the Street

Wednesday, January 19: at 6:08 p.m., deputies arrested a 43-year-old man with no permanent residence on suspicion of assault and battery with great bodily harm. The man was seen in an altercation with another person outside a church on Grove Way near Redwood Road. Deputies took the man into custody. The victim was treated at the scene.

 

Domestic Assault

Thursday, January 20: at 10:48 p.m., a 911 call about a loud and aggressive-sounding argument sent deputies to a home on Betlen Way near Grove Way. There, they arrested a 20-year-old man on suspicion of assault on a family member and false imprisonment. The man was handcuffed and taken into custody. The victim was treated at the scene.
