Sheriff’s Report: January 29 – February 5

Domestic Disturbance

Sunday, February 4: at 12:00 a.m., Sheriff's deputies arrested a 23-year-old man from Castro Valley on suspicion of assault on a family member and damaging a phone being used to call for help. The man was at an apartment on Center Street near Grove Way when deputies responded to a call about an altercation. The man was taken into custody. The victim was treated at the scene.

 

Public Intoxication

Saturday, February 3: at 9:56 p.m., a 37-year-old woman from Castro Valley was arrested on suspicion of public intoxication outside a home on Clement Drive near Giannini Way. Deputies were called to the scene to investigate a “disturbing the peace” call and found the woman in the front of the home. She failed her field sobriety test and was taken into custody.

 

Spousal Assault

Sunday, February 4: at 3:30 a.m., a 911 call about a loud and aggressive-sounding argument sent deputies to a home on Young Avenue near Ione Avenue. There, they arrested a 40-year-old man from Castro Valley on suspicion of spousal assault and false imprisonment. Deputies handcuffed the man and took him into custody. The victim was treated at the scene.

 

Wanted For Illegal Marijuana Sales

Friday, February 2: at 2:19 p.m., deputies pulled over and arrested a 23-year-old man with a warrant issued for his capture. The man had previously been charged with the illegal sale of marijuana. Deputies stopped the man at the westbound entrance to Interstate 580 near Redwood Road and served the warrant. The man was taken to Santa Rita Jail.

 

Sex Offender Failed to Register

Thursday, February 1: at 8:41 p.m., a 40-year-old man with no permanent residence was arrested for failing to report to authorities as a registered sex offender. The man was traveling on Castro Valley Boulevard near Yeandle Avenue when deputies stopped him for questioning and discovered his status. The man was taken to Santa Rita Jail.

 

Driving Intoxicated and Over the Limit

Friday, February 2: at 12:06 a.m., deputies pulled over and arrested a 36-year-old man on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and driving with a blood-alcohol content over the legal limit. The man was traveling on Redwood Road near Crescent Avenue when deputies pulled him over. The man failed his field sobriety test and was taken into custody.

 

Interfering with a Business

Monday, January 29: at 6:55 a.m., a 42-year-old man with no permanent residence was arrested on suspicion of violating a court order to stay away from a business. Deputies were dispatched to a store on Rustic Drive in the Castro Village Shopping Center after the manager called to complain about the man who had been asked to remain at least 100 yards away. The man was taken into custody.
