Sheriff's Report: September 13 - 20

Public Intoxication

Monday, September 13: at 8:18 a.m., Sheriff’s deputies arrested a 26-year-old man from Castro Valley on suspicion of public intoxication. The man was hanging outside a business on the corner of Castro Valley Boulevard and Stanton Avenue when deputies stopped him for questioning and smelled alcohol on his breath. The man failed his field sobriety test and was taken to a sobering center.

Drug Paraphernalia

Monday, September 13: at 5:47 p.m., a 22-year-old man from Castro Valley was arrested on suspicion of possession of illegal drug paraphernalia. Deputies stopped the man for questioning at the intersection of Castro Valley Boulevard and Forest Avenue when they discovered a pipe used for smoking drugs. The man was taken into custody.

Burglar Tools

Tuesday, September 14: at 10:43 a.m., deputies arrested a 45-year-old man with no permanent residence on suspicion of possession of illegal narcotics and burglar tools. The man was spotted testing locks to doors in the rear parking lot of a grocery store on East Castro Valley Boulevard in the 580 Market Place center. Deputies responded to a call from the store manager. The suspect was taken into custody.

Breaking and Entering

Tuesday, September 14: at 2:45 p.m., a 25-year-old man from Castro Valley was arrested for breaking and entering a construction site on Center Street near Grove Way. Deputies were alerted by an anonymous tip about someone on the property. The man was additionally charged with providing officials with false identification. Deputies took the man into custody.

Domestic Assault

Tuesday, September 14: at 9:23 p.m., a 911 call about a loud and aggressive-sounding argument sent deputies to a motel parking lot on East Castro Valley Boulevard near Justco Lane. There, they arrested a 27-year-old woman from Castro Valley on suspicion of assault on a family member and possession of methamphetamine drugs. Deputies handcuffed the woman and took her into custody. The victim was treated at the scene.

Driving with an Invalid License

Thursday, September 16: at 7:52 p.m., deputies arrested a 25-year-old man from Castro Valley on suspicion of driving with an invalid license and possession of illegal narcotics. The man was traveling on Redwood Road when deputies pulled him over for a traffic infringement on Nichandros Street. Deputies checked his license, discovered the drugs, and took the man into custody.

Drove Intoxicated

Saturday, September 18: at 1:40 a.m., a 56-year-old man from Castro Valley was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated. Deputies pulled the man over on Santa Maria Avenue near Castro Valley Boulevard after observing him swerving in traffic. The man failed his field sobriety test and was taken into custody.

Illegal Possession of Weapons, Ammunition

Friday, September 17: at 7:47 p.m., deputies arrested a 26-year-old man from Castro Valley on suspicion of illegal possession of multiple firearms and ammunition. The man was on parole, preventing him from legally possessing the weapons. Deputies stopped the man at a gas station on Wisteria Street near Castro Valley Boulevard where they discovered his stash. The man was taken to Santa Rita Jail pending bail.

Attempted Home Robbery 

Sunday, September 19: at 5:36 p.m., a 55-year-old man with no permanent residence was arrested on suspicion of breaking and entering a home on Tanglewood Drive near Grove Way. Deputies were dispatched to the scene following a silent alarm. The man was handcuffed and taken into custody.
