CVHS Students

Last week I had a surprising interaction with a CVHS student. I was stopped at the 4 way stop at Santa Maria and Somerset Avenues. When it was my turn to go I saw a student waiting patiently to cross Santa Maria. I indicated that she should cross and I would wait. Here is the surprising part! She actually acknowledged me and hurried across the street. No looking for friends, no checking her cell phone! I hope she reads this so she knows how much she was appreciated.

Today I had an unsurprising interaction with 2 CVHS students at the Safeway driveway on Redwood Road. One went across the driveway on a skateboard, against the red light and flashing red hand. The other went across behind the skateboard. Is no one teaching children that a red hand means do not cross or that they should look for oncoming traffic even if they should have right of way?

High fives for the student in the first encounter!
