We Need a Responsible Moderate
By the time you read this letter, you will have received your mail-ballot. There's going to be lot there, but no item is as important as the Alameda County Supervisor race. Nate Miley belongs back as County Supervisor. Yes, he's been there a long time, and that's the reason to re-elect him. Take a hard look at his record - the Castro Valley Farmers' Market; the Cherryland Community Center; the Ashland Community Center; the Eden Area MAC; the Fairview MAC; pushed big Pharma for prescription drug drop-off sites; his efforts to improve Mental Health services to the Jail and in the County; plus efforts to get the rest of the Board to listen to Castro Valley Veterans issues; and, last, but not least - all the remarkable work he has done for seniors throughout Alameda County. That one I can personally vouch for!!!
Over the years when I was an EBMUD Director, I had plenty of opportunities to interface with Nate on Local and County issues. We didn't always agree, but we did get things done. Now, as the Board of Supervisors has had major turnover, we need someone who will act as institutional memory and be a moderating force to get things done responsibly. This year we have a choice between a responsible Moderate and a so-called “Progressive” bent towards interests that don't mesh with us. Now more than ever, we need a responsible Moderate - Nate Miley.
